Another great Mayworks Picnic
The Winnipeg Labour Council once again hosted its annual MayWorks family picnic on Saturday, May 30, at Freight House Park. In a spring that has experienced a lot of cool, wet weather, it turned out to be a great day for a picnic, with about 150 people coming out to join in the fun.
All children who attended were provided hot dogs, balloons, inflatable rides and a entry into the free bike raffle.
Members of Local 500 wearing "positively public" t-shirts were
out to lend a hand at this annual event. "This year's event was very
well attended and lots of fun for the children," said Mike Davidson,
President of CUPE Local 500. "Our Local not only volunteers financial
resources but some of our members take the time to attend and help out."
The MayWorks picnic is part of the Annual MayWorks Festival held every
year in the month of May to honour and promote the many positive contributions
of unions and working people in general.
