Local 500 Launches more Billboard and Bus Ads

Billboard and bus ads promoting public services have gone up in the city this week as part of the Local's "Positively Public" campaign. This is the Local's fourth round of billboards and third round of bus ads to help educate the public about our campaign. You'll find the billboards at four locations: St. Mary's Rd North of Warde Avenue; Main Street South of Leila Avenue; Elizabeth Road East of Archibald Street and King Edward South of Hyde.

Davidson and Barron elected to National Executive Board

Local 500 President Mike Davidson was elected today to the position of Regional Vice-President for Manitoba on CUPE's National Executive Board. Also elected for a second term as the Diversity Vice-President was Brian Barron, 1st Vice-President of the Local. The National Executive Board makes decisions on behalf of CUPE members in between conventions. Its members are elected by CUPE members at CUPE's biennial national conventions.

CUPE National Convention October 4 - 9

More than 2,588 delegates, alternates, staff and guests will be in Montréal starting Oct. 4 for CUPE's National Convention. You can follow it here.

CUPE will be streaming audio from the convention floor, tweeting major convention events and resolutions, posting photographs from the convention floor, forums and other events and producing a podcast on convention events, featuring interviews with guests, delegates and CUPE leaders.
