Scholarship and bursaries awarded
The Les Butterworth Scholarship Fund awards sponsored
by Local 500 were presented to two award winners at a dinner held
on September 24. One scholarship of $1,250 and two bursaries of
$750 were awarded. more

Central Council approves pension contribution increase
The Central Council of Local 500 voted in favour of the proposed
increase to the pension contribution rate at their meeting on
September 28, 2009 as recommended by the CUPE pension trustees
and the Local 500 Executive. more

Union Recommends Contribution Increase for WCEBP
In February, 2009 all plan members of the Winnipeg Civic Employees’
Benefits Program received a letter from the Board of Trustees
outlining the problems that the downturn in the financial market
has caused for our pension plan. While the plan had set aside
surpluses, these reserves have since been used up. more
