CUPE Local 500/City Winnipeg Salary Increase
The next salary increase for CUPE Local 500 members working at the
City of Winnipeg is as follows:
Effective Pay Period #1 (January 3, 2010) wages will increase 3%.
This means that the new rate will appear on your pay advice dated
January 15, 2010.

Union Dues Increase
Union dues are governed by a Local 500 by-law. This by-law states that union dues shall be a flat rate bi-weekly for those earning the same or more than the lowest full-time rate in the City of Winnipeg Agreement. » Read more

Local 500 launches Holiday Season TV and Radio Ads
CUPE Local 500 is running a TV and Radio ad to extend greetings to the public and remind them that our members are on the job throughout the holidays and everyday providing quality public services. The 15-second TV advertisement will begin airing on CityTV Winnipeg from December 12, 2009 to January 3, 2010. Radio ads begin December 7, 2009 to January 3, 2010 on CJOB, Power 97 and 99.1 Groove FM.

Blue Summit calls on Government to protect water
Representatives from Local 500 joined more than 300 participants from across the country and internationally, including a group of more than 80 CUPE delegates from every province at a two-day water summit held in Ottawa on November 27-29. A declaration, calling on all three levels of government to take action to protect public water services was adopted at the close of the summit. » Read more

City Council approves employer contribution rate increase to Winnipeg Civic Employees Benefits Program
On November 25, Winnipeg City Council concurred in the recommendation
to increase employer contributions to the Winnipeg Civic Employees Benefits
Program for the pension and disability plans from the current 6.7% to
