Member Update #21 - Covid-19 - Vaccination Requirements - City of Winnipeg Employees

September 14, 2021 at 4:28 PM

The City of Winnipeg has announced it will require front-line employees who have ongoing contact with vulnerable residents, including children under 12, to be fully vaccinated. While the City has not identified specific positions, the vaccine requirement will extend to employees working in public safety, community protection, recreation services, public transportation, and public-facing customer service roles.

In addition, for employees who are not vaccinated, the City has confirmed it will explore options that could include frequent COVID-19 testing or redeployment to a role that is not in contact with the public.

The Local will continue to have dialogue with the City as it continues to develop its vaccination requirement plan. As always, our priority remains to ensure the safety of our members while protecting your rights in the workplace as well as your right to privacy.

Please watch for further updates as more information becomes available.
