In recognition of Communities Day (June 23), Local 500 is releasing a report card on how Councillor's at City Hall have voted on issues that affect our community and the services that CUPE members provide.

"Public services and infrastructure are the cornerstone of our economy and bedrock of our communities," said Local 500 President, Mike Davidson."The political decisions made by our City Council have a powerful effect on us every day, from our quality of life to our economic livelihood. The purpose of the report card was to let the citizens we serve, know how their elected representative voted on some of these important decisions," said Davidson.

About 110,000 report cards were mailed out on June 18 to targeted wards.

In addition, the Local has launched a public awareness campaign to remind the larger community, that, as neighbours and friends, Winnipeg's public employees are integral to building strong and healthy communities.

Beginning the week of June 18, radio and print ads will give the public an opportunity to learn more about Winnipeg's public services and the women and men who provide them.
