Important Reminder: International Workers' Day is May 1

April 29, 2013 at 2:48 PM

International Workers' Day (also known as May Day), is a time to celebrate the victories that have been won to make many workers' lives safer and more sustainable, and to rally around workers' rights to insist that all workers are treated fairly.

Today, although there are still sweatshops and other inhumane working conditions for many workers around the world, the labor movement has won numerous victories that many of us take for granted, such as the 5-day work week, 8-hour work day, paid holidays and the end of child labor.

On May 1, Join workers and their allies for the 2013 International Workers Day march! The theme "We are all in this together"speaks to the solidarity needed in these times of struggle, cuts, and hardship.

Bring your flags, banners, and wear your union colours! Don't forget to invite your friends!

When: Wednesday, May 1, 5:30
Speakers at 5:45
March starts at 6:00 pm

Where:  Winnipeg City Hall, 510 Main St.
